About Central YMCA Qualifications
Central YMCA Qualifications (CYQ) is the UK's only exercise
specific, government-approved awarding body. CYQ certificates
are the industry standard for personal training in the UK and
meet the National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) standards
as set out by SPRITO.
CYQ awards
There are currently three levels of qualifications available
from
CYQ to help your career in the rapidly expanding fitness industry.
The outline below briefly highlights what successful students
will learn at each level.
Level One - Assistant Fitness Instructing qualifications
• Planning and performing exercise programmes
• Understanding the body and its response to exercise.
• Understanding the principles of training.
Level Two - Fitness Instructing
qualifications
• Plan safe and effective training sessions.
• Learn the principles of training.
• Use a range of teaching techniques.
• Candidates must also complete one of the following units
(Aspects of gym training, Exercise to Music, circuit training,
aqua and step).
Level Three - Advanced and Diploma
level qualifications
• Advanced fitness instructing.
• Personal training
• GP referral
• Gym / Studio / Centre management
Approved list of CYQ training providers
CYQ accredit many organisation with delivering CYQ standard
training. Many of these organisations are colleges and educational
institutions.
